Education: Caregiver Support Seminars
Bridging the Gap are monthly chat-and-chew support group meetings, which include life-coaching, mini workshops on various topics concerning grandparents raising grandchildren. Services also include respite/babysitting for grandparents, which allow them time for themselves, and various short-term excursions with and without the grandchildren to establish a healthier relationship with the grandchildren as well as with others adults dealing with similar issues.
The goal is to decrease stress, develop effective communication skills, and build healthier relationships, between grandparents and grandchildren, so their family life will be more stable. It’s also to help grandparents understand today's youth and learn to practice a balanced healthy life.
This unique program engages different grandparents within our community who are different in ethnicity, race, culture and social economic status and are dealing with similar circumstances
