Nine organizations will be providing services to Boynton Beach’s caregiving community through activities such as line-dancing classes, grandparents support initiative, caregiving education, and respite care programs — thanks to Healthier Boynton Beach, which is supported by Palm Health Foundation.

Healthier Boynton Beach announced in May that we are offering $33,000 in mini-grants, ranging between $2,000 to $5,000, to the nine organizations, which are nonprofits, churches, and other community groups, for the purpose of making life better for individuals who are providing caregiving assistance to their loved ones and friends living in the 33435 zip code in Boynton Beach.

The nine, mini-grant recipients were presented at a community event on May 20 at Carolyn Sims Center in Boynton Beach.

Ricky Petty, project director of Healthier Boynton Beach, a community initiative funded by Palm Health Foundation, said the organizations receiving the mini-grants are focusing their efforts on health, wellness, education, and awareness for caregivers. These organizations were carefully selected through presentations made during another community meeting in March.

Petty explained that the mini-grants had two purposes. “First, it was to build capacity and confidence amongst organizations that are reluctant to apply for grant opportunities. Second, it was to engage the community in the initiative and allow them to use their creativity to have a positive impact in the lives of family caregivers.”
